Our Achievements
Here are a few examples of what we have achieved
- have given £50,000 towards the refurbishment of One Tree Hill as part of Greenwich Park Revealed (GPR). This is a major project, funded in part by the Heritage Lottery Fund, of refurbishment of several aspects of the Park, see the website www.royalparks.org.uk/gpr.
- helped set up the Wildlife Centre, with its nature trail and pond, where we run educational visits, open days and family wildlife activities
- helped with the restoration of the Queen’s Orchard, where we provide volunteers to maintain the traditional trees, plants and ponds
- paid for the fountain in the herb garden and the installation of new drinking fountains
- helped pay for the return of Henry Moore’s bronze sculpture to the Park
- paid for signage and plaques to reflect the Park’s history
- helped fund the opening up of Princess Caroline of Brunswick’s Georgian plunge bath
- funded free football coaching for local children in the Park, and paid for tennis coaching equipment
- provided free leaflets on the trees in the Park and the herb garden, published a booklet about walks in the Park and funded one on the Park’s birds
- played an important role in ensuring that the Park was restored, and in a number of ways improved, after the Olympic equestrian events in 2012
- hold annual Midsummer Jazz Concerts in the Observatory Garden
- organise and pay for concerts at the Bandstand on Sunday afternoons in July and August
- secured discounts for our Members from local businesses, including a discount at the Park’s cafes and kiosks
