Community Archaeology Project

There is an exciting community archaeology project in May 2022 to explore what remains of the Magnetic Observatory. The Royal Parks will invite local community groups to take part in a number of projects over two weeks.

Community Archaeologist, Andrew Mayfield, will be leading the project. He says: “We’re not too sure what we will find but we hope to uncover the foundations of the buildings and learn more about the people that worked there.” Watch this space for project updates!

The project is being delivered through Greenwich Park Revealed – an £8 million, four-year project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and National Lottery Community Fund to reveal, restore, protect and share its unique heritage - now, and for future generations.
