The Park Opening Times & Getting There
This historic part of South East London is readily accessible by public transport. A trip down the Thames can be fun! Once here, join in specific events, enjoy the natural surroundings, or take in the many historic features of this famous World Heritage site.

Rail
Regular services from Central London (Charing Cross/Cannon Street/London Bridge) to Greenwich for St Mary's Gate entrance or Maze Hill for Park Vista Gate entrance (journey time about 20 minutes) and from North Kent.

Bus
No. 188 from Russell Square or Aldwych, or from North Greenwich, to Greenwich;
No. 53 from Piccadilly/Trafalgar Square to Blackheath Gate entrance;

Cars
There are car parking areas inside the Blackheath Gate, along Blackheath Avenue and outside the Pavilion Tea House and the Royal Observatory. Charges on Monday to Saturday are £1.40 per hour from 9am to 6pm or earlier if the park is closed. Charges on Sundays and Bank Holidays are £2 per hour from 9am to 6pm or earlier if the park is closed; four hours maximum; excess charge £80. There is some disabled parking at the junction of Blackheath Avenue and Great Cross Avenue.
Through traffic (no commercial vehicles)
There is currently no through traffic in the Park.
Cycling
Designated cycling routes (open all day) are:
North-south: The Avenue and Blackheath Avenue.
East-west: part of Great Cross Avenue.
Wheelchair users
From the St Mary's Gate (Greenwich) entrance to the Park, there is quite a steep escarpment to the upper plateau. The Avenue has the easiest gradient. Some public transport within the Park is planned; check availability with the Park Office. Tel: 0300 061 2380.
Policing the Park
Greenwich Park is policed by the Royal Parks arm of the Metropolitan Police.
The police officers in the Park have access to a defibrillator and are trained in its use.

If you do not carry a mobile phone, and the park office is closed, there is a free fixed telephone on the office wall by the Blackheath Gate: the phone should connect direct to the Police.
