Moths and Butterflies
The Wildlife Group now has on show a large display case of butterflies and moths, most of which can be found in and around Greenwich Park. The display is based on the recently published survey of Lepidoptera and contains almost all the Park’s current butterfly species and a selection of the moths. Also included are species which since recording began (nearly 200 years ago!) have become extinct and others that can be found elsewhere in the Borough. Included with the display is a brief note explaining what has happened to the butterflies and moths over the last 200 years and their present situation. All the specimens have been either bred or come from old collections.
